Scoliosis
When the backbone appears laterally bent ( to a side) from the back, the condition is called scoliosis. Although there are genetic factors in scoliosis, most cases are due to incorrect everyday posture from childhood or adolescence. Scoliosis patients may suffer from a severe S curve caused by the body's compensating motion, accompanied by organ deformity, indigestion, headache, and pelvic deformity. Moreover, skewed weight load often causes arthritis of the knee. Scoliosis has high prevalence in childhood and adolescence compared to other spinal diseases, and its incidence continues to rise annually among young Koreans who are forced to study in sitting position for a long time.
